To mark International Pathology Day on November 5th, we took pathology right to the heart of Canberra. We held a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) testing day at Parliament House in partnership with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. You can watch our video about the day here.
It was a great opportunity to raise awareness about prostate cancer – the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, and to remind everyone just how simple it is to get tested.
54 Members of Parliament, including Mr Dan Repacholi MP, Mr Andrew Wilcox MP, The Speaker of the House, the Hon Milton Dick MP and Minister for Aged Care, the Hon Sam Rae MP, rolled up their sleeves to get tested and show their support for men’s health.
Events like this highlight the vital role pathology plays in early detection and prevention – not only for prostate cancer, but for most diseases and conditions. In fact, 70% of all medical decisions rely on pathology. Regular check-ups, screenings and tests can make all the difference in protecting your health and catching issues early.
We are looking forward to hosting more events like this to raise awareness for other tests and to highlight how vital and essential pathology is.
